The Bridge

The Bridge was created to “bridge” the gap between the elementary ages and the demands of high school by preparing students for the rigors of note taking, meeting deadlines, testing, labs, and working with peers.

What classes are offered? We are offering the following this year: Middle School Chemistry, Writing, Geography, Middle School Math, Pre Algebra, Guitar, Drama and Robotics.  Please see our course description download below.  We rotate our classes on a 3 year schedule. For example, the writing class assignments, science and history change each year so they don’t repeat over a 3 year period.

Do I have to sign up for all the classes?  No, you just pick and choose which classes that you would like for your student to take.  Most students take only one or two classes.  Usually it is the subject that you don’t feel comfortable teaching. The teacher acts as your assistant in teaching a subject/s that you would like to have help with.  The parent and student are responsible for making sure the student does the work at home. The teacher presents the lessons and grades the student in an objective manner.  Homework assignments are emailed to the home so the parent is fully informed.  This will transition your student into being independently accountable for their work.

Do you separate the students by grade level?  No, grades 6 through 8 are all in the same class.  The level of work expected from each student depends on their grade level.  For example, in writing, a 6th grade research paper may be 4 pages while an 8th grade research paper may be 8 pages.

What time are classes and do students stay the entire time? Classes typically run from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. so that those interested in participating in Voyagers can enjoy both co-ops.  Your student only needs to come during their class time not the whole day.  If you need to drop them off early or have them stay late, they are welcome to stay in study hall when they don’t have class.

How do I sign them up for classes?

  • Please read through each download below.

  • Complete the Bridge/Eluminatus Class Registration Form.

  • Complete the Medical Release/Off Campus form.

  • Fill out the Hall Monitor Volunteer Forms.

  • Return all of the above documents with your Bridge registration fee.

  • Bridge students must be Eagle's Nest Members. Please follow the instructions on the home page of this website to join Eagle's Nest. Registrations for joining Eagle's Nest for 2011-2012 will not be accepted until July 16, but you may register for your Bridge/Eluminatus now.

To Eluminatus and Bridge Parents:
  • All Eluminatus and Bridge students entering any of the following classes are required to take a placement test unless they have passed the Eluminatus or Bridge pre-requisite class (for example, Algebra 1 is a pre-requisite for Chemistry and Pre-Algebra is a pre-requisite for Algebra 1) with a C or better: Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Advanced Math, Calculus, Consumer Math, Statistics, Physics and Economics. The tests will be graded by the tutors to determine whether students are in the appropriate classes. This will be beneficial to each student as well as the instructor and class as a whole.
    Testing Dates and Times:
    Saturday, July 16th 2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m
    Tuesday, August 9th 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    Thursday, August 18th 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Please sign up for the meeting you prefer to attend by emailing Lisa Owens at gabeandlisaowens@gmail.com.

  • Eluminatus/Bridge will be requiring Eluminatus/Bridge parents (and preferrably students as well) to attend one of 3 meetings to help prepare for the upcoming year. Attending one of these meetings IS MANDATORY - Eluminatus/Bridge students will not be allowed to begin classes if a parent has not attended one of the meetings. The first meeting is scheduled right after Round Up from 2:15 - 3:15 for your convenience. All 3 meetings will take place at Unity Baptist Church.
    Meeting Dates and Times:
    Saturday, July 16th 2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m
    Tuesday, August 9th 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    Thursday, August 18th 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
