Eagle's Nest 2008-2009 Elementary Field Trips

This is always lots of fun!!  Our little ones will watch in amazement and wonder why mom doesn’t make cooking look like that much fun at home!  We will have a lunch of chicken, steak, or shrimp with fried rice, soup, and our drink.  The cost is $8.50 per person and tax and tip is included in this price.  Payment should be made to Jeanna Todd and is due by Friday, November 28.

This was such a big hit last year, we just had to do it again!!  We will watch those yummy doughnuts being made.  Each child will get a free Krispy Kreme doughnut and a hat.  Yes, there will be enough for us moms too!!  Due to limited space, there is a 25 student limit on this field trip.  If this one fills up and we have enough interest, we would be happy to schedule another one.  There is no charge for this field trip. 

You don’t want to miss this one!!  Mr. Glen Nye, The Reptile Guy, will be back this year with Spike, the bearded dragon, Cleo, the Burmese Python, Rufus, the Savannah Monitor, and Mooshu, the Chinese Water Dragon, just to name a few. There will be a few new additions as well!  Find out where these animals are from, what they eat, their endangered status, and their role in the ecosystem.  If you are one of the brave, you will be able to touch most of the animals and even hold some of them!!  The cost for this will be $5.00 per student.

Visit F.D.R.’s beloved “Little White House” in Warm Springs. This is where President Roosevelt stayed when he would come to Warm Springs for treatment of polio. This is also the place that he passed away on April 12, 1945, while having his portrait painted. We will see the unfinished portrait as we tour the museum on the property. The cost will be $2.00 per student.

There is lots of fun to be had down on BUTTS MILL FARM!!  We will go on a pony ride and a hayride. We will be given food to feed those hungry little animals at the petting zoo.  Then we will learn how to milk a cow!  We will also enjoy nice train ride.  After all of the outdoor fun is over, we will go inside for even more fun at the Discovery Zone where there is a ball pit, a maze, and lots more!  The cost is $7.50 per student due upon arrival.

They tell us that they didn’t invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich.  Let’s go find out for ourselves!!  We will tour the Chick-Fil-A headquarters, see a film on the history, and get a FREE Chick-Fil-A at Union Station.  There is a 40 student max limit.  They ask that the students be 6 or older for this tour.  There is no charge for this field trip.

We will step back in time as we visit this living museum of life in ancient times.  You will be able to sit in an authentic goat-hair tent.  See a tomb like the one Jesus was buried in. There will be a tour of the property filled with archeological replicas to see what life might have been like 2000 years ago!  After the tour, the children will participate in an archeological dig themselves.  The cost is $10.00 per student and is due upon arrival.
